Rural Economic & Agriculture Development Agency (READA) is a Cambodian non-political, non-religious organization which focuses its efforts on rural community development and livelihood improvement. READA was established in 2004 by Cambodian volunteers and former employees of AGRISUD International and was subsequently registered with the Ministry of Interior in 2005 (Number 090 sCN).
In September 2011, READA received the internationally recognized GPP certification on Governance and Professional Practices. GPP, which is coordinated by Cooperation Committee for Cambodia (CCC), is a collective response by NGOs to professionalize and strengthen the NGO sector in Cambodia by encouraging and promoting NGO accountability and good organizational practice. READA is among the first 32 NGOs in Cambodia to have successfully completed the certification process.
READA works in rural areas of Siem Reap province and currently implements projects in 78 villages in Banteay Srei, Angkor Thom, Sonikoum and Chikreng district. READA works with the poorest members of the community and implements Needs and Rights Based Approaches. The Needs Based Approach provides the poorest with new opportunities to increase their living standards by providing support grants to start up livelihood activities. The Rights Based Approach is a strong awareness raising program which ensures that the communities have a deeper understanding of their basic rights to life and independence of expression.
We ensure that we provide members of rural communities with the opportunity to expand their livelihood activities without depleting natural resources. In November 2005, READA received an Award on Organic Agriculture Production, delivered by the Ministry of Agriculture and JICA.
At READA, We strongly believe in knowledge, skills sharing and collaboration among development actors and collaborate closely with local authorities, relevant ministries, local, International NGOs and private sector.  To better serve our communities in a sustainable way, we recognize that we need to build our staff capacity. This is an ongoing process which our international NGO partners play an active role in.

Web Design for Picaflor House Community

The Picaflor House Community Project is located in the village of Oropesa, a 45-minute bus ride from the centre of Cusco, Peru. The project was established in November 2010 by Globalteer to support the children and families in Oropesa and the surrounding villages. The project works closely with the local school in Oropesa to provide the most required services to the children attending the school.

We run a volunteer programme at the project where you can help to teach English to the children. Having English as a second language is of huge benefit to the children in an area where a lot of jobs rely on the tourism industry. If you have ever considered immersing yourself in another culture and giving something back to those less fortunate, volunteering with us in Peru could be exactly the opportunity you are looking for.

Our aim is to provide a long-term locally managed and staffed location where local families can receive free education, learn new skills, have access to health education and family support. The children come from the poorer families of the villages we support, they may be orphans or living with extended family/neighbours so home life is not always stable.

Many of the children attending the school in Oropesa come from surrounding villages. Some children live at home and walk up to 4 hours per day to attend school. Some children live away from their families to be closer to the school. Many children are required to work for their lodgings away from home.
